Cabbage Patch Fakies
You wouldn't expect it, but yes, these exist. They come in two main variety, but a plethora a variations have been spotted.
First, you have the stolen mold fakies. These are like exact replicas of Cabbage Patch ponies but only in crappier form. So far, I have mostly spotted this "replica" fakies in jumbo form. Although, I did have a yellow one with green in the normal size. (
This is the best photo I have of my jumbo. I have no idea where she is now, or else I'd get some better shots. If I remeber correctly, she even had the horseshoes on her hooves.
Aside from the general poor quality, another way to determine if your pony is a fake Cabbage Patch Pony is in the eyes. The jumbo shown above has different eyes painted on than real Cabbage Patch ponies. The plastic is generally thinner and the hair clumps up and knots more easily. Also, they will be missing the Hasbro label.
The other variety I have seen these babies come in is the Cabbage Patch pony head and MLP body combo. The body is generally in a Raincurl pose and the head is reminiscent of a Cabbage Patch pony head but still different. They head is smaller, but still looks goofy on the MLP body. (Seen below.)
Something interesting about these fakies is that they often have "glass" eyes. This adds to their creepiness. These fakies are still being made and sold today. You will often find them in "family" sets with the Drink'n'wet fakies, the Lady-baby fakies, and so on that you will see later.
